Harrisburg, MO - The Canote family is in the process of becoming full-time missionaries with YUGO Ministries.

So WHAT does that mean? It means the Canotes are early in the application process of joining YUGO Ministries as full-time missionaries as of November, 2005. This process will take several months to complete. We feel we are following God's lead on our lives and are answering His call to follow Him in full-time ministry. Our plan is be "regional coordinators" recruiting people to join us in Mexico in ministry working with the YUGO Ministry outreach program. We will be staying in Missouri and continuing our gospel bluegrass music ministry and also making multiple trips per year to Mexico. Matthew 9:37 So HOW did this get started? We had a "chance" (isn't God cool?!?) meeting with Cindy Birney, while on a camping trip in Lawrence, KS in

And WHEN did we get to go back? Chris took Samantha, Adam, and Chewy along with family friend, Kishia Jackson back to Reynosa, Mexico on a summer outreach with YUGO Ministries in the summer of 2004. This time, some of the Canote kids got a chance to experience, first hand, what Dad had been talking about for the last year. They understood why Dad had been talking about selling everything and moving to Mexico! Suddenly, they knew what it meant to honor the Great Commission...full-time. They understood that serving God and sharing the Good News of Jesus was the purpose for which God created us. They couldn't wait to come back with the whole family. Matthew 28:18-20

So WHEN did the rest of the family get to go back? All 9 of the Canotes travelled 5,557 miles on a 3-week mission trip to Ciudad Acuña, Mexico and Tijuana, Mexico in the summer of 2005. This time we took on a new role and worked as volunteers at the base camp for the ministry teams. There were over 200 participating on 9 different teams. We helped cook, supervised clean up crews, helped with the daily grocery run, and made over 1,500 sandwiches! This trip was an "exploratory" trip to search our hearts and God's call for our lives. We were prepared to move to Del Rio, TX and become the Eastern Mexico representatives for YUGO Ministries if that was God's call.

May of 2003. She was the leader of a youth group with plans to take the group to Reynosa, Mexico at the end of June, 2003. They had purchased a bus but had no bus driver. The next thing ya know, Chris is driving their team to Mexico! He was "hooked" right away and ready to move to Mexico before he ever got back home to Missouri. Chris got to preach with an interpreter on the trip. It was obvious to anyone who knows Chris that he came back a changed man. He knew, as did anyone he could get to listen to him, that he and his family would be going back to Mexico in some ministry capacity SOON! Matthew 24:14
